My Reflection

This conversation with Nicolas opened many important topics: identity, power loss, spirituality, men’s work, grief, sauna rituals and the practical tools that help us return to balance.

Nicolas spoke about being adopted from Colombia to Sweden and growing up with the feeling of wanting to be seen, accepted and validated. This shaped parts of his early life, including the need to fit in, be approved by others and find belonging in different environments.

What stood out to me was how he described his turning point. Meeting an important teacher in Ireland helped him see spirituality in a more grounded way. Not as an escape, not as fantasy, but as a way to understand life more deeply.

One sentence from Nicolas stayed with me:

Instead of asking, “Why is the universe doing this to me?”
ask, “Why is the universe doing this for me?”

That shift is powerful.

It does not remove pain. It does not pretend that loss is easy. But it changes the position from victimhood to learning. When difficult things happen, we can either collapse into the question “why me?”, or we can slowly begin to ask what life may be showing us.

Nicolas shared a recent period where he lost his two cats, lost money through friends, experienced kidney stones and had to cancel an important trip. This was a major power loss. But instead of giving up, he allowed grief, sadness and pain to be present while also asking what he could learn from it.

That is real inner work.

We also spoke about men’s groups and the importance of realizing that we are not alone. Many men carry shame, pain and emotional pressure silently. In a men’s circle, when one man speaks honestly and others recognize the same feeling in themselves, something opens. Shame becomes less heavy. Isolation becomes connection.

Another important part of the episode was Nicolas’s work in saunas. Sauna rituals, sound, steam, essential oils, music and breath can all become tools for presence. People often think meditation only means sitting still with closed eyes, but presence can be found in many ways.

A sauna can become meditation.

Sound can become meditation.

Breath can become meditation.

Heat can bring the body into the present moment.

For me, this connects strongly with Power Awakening. We all need tools that help us return to ourselves. For some people it is meditation. For others it is yoga, sauna, breathwork, movement, sound, nature, men’s groups, therapy, coaching or honest conversation.

The important thing is to find what actually helps you feel more present, balanced and alive.

Because when life becomes difficult, these tools become anchors.

This episode is a reminder that power awakening is not only about becoming stronger. It is also about becoming more honest with pain, more connected to the body and more willing to learn from life.

My Reflection

In this second part with Nicolas, we continued exploring men’s work, group facilitation, breath, relationships and the importance of having spaces where people can be honest without wearing a mask.

One strong theme was authenticity.

Many people spend years adapting to different environments. They wear one mask at work, another mask with friends, another mask in relationships and maybe another one in family life. After a while, they may not even know where the mask ends and the real self begins.

Nicolas spoke about creating spaces where people can show up more honestly. Not because the facilitator is above anyone, but because the space allows people to be seen without judgement. This is important because many people are not used to being met in that way.

We also spoke about men’s groups and why they matter. Many men carry stress, shame, confusion, relationship pain or emotional pressure alone. They may not know how to reach out, or they may feel they should handle everything by themselves.

But when men sit in a safe space and hear others speak honestly, something changes.

They realize:

I am not the only one.

That realization can reduce shame and create connection.

For me, this is one of the most important parts of group work. It gives people a place to practice honesty before life becomes too heavy. Instead of waiting until everything collapses, people can learn to speak earlier, feel earlier and ask for support earlier.

Nicolas also shared how breath has helped him deeply. Breath is simple, but powerful. It is always available. It can help regulate the nervous system, bring us back into the body and return us to the present moment.

You do not always need a complicated method.

Sometimes the first medicine is to stop, breathe and notice what is happening inside.

We also spoke about relationships. A relationship can become one of the strongest mirrors for power loss and power awakening. When a partner says something and we suddenly feel not good enough, rejected, unseen or attacked, something inside us reacts.

The question is: what do we do with that reaction?

Do we escape?

Do we numb ourselves?

Do we work more, scroll more, drink more or avoid home?

Or do we become curious and ask what this reaction is showing us?

This is where proactive inner work matters. If we practice emotional awareness, communication and presence before crisis comes, we are more prepared when difficulty appears.

Nicolas also shared a powerful story about Vipassana, silence and reconnecting with his birth family. Through deep stillness and inner listening, he came to a place of understanding and forgiveness toward his mother in Colombia. Shortly after that, he received news that his family had been found.

Whether someone sees this as synchronicity, manifestation or simply life unfolding, the story shows something important: when something inside us softens, life can sometimes open in unexpected ways.

For me, this episode is about presence.

Presence with the breath.

Presence with pain.

Presence with relationships.

Presence with the parts of ourselves we usually avoid.

Power awakening is not only about strength. Sometimes it is about stopping, breathing, asking for help and remembering that we do not have to carry everything alone.
